Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using our parametric 3D model platform.
What is a parametric model?
A parametric model is a 3D model whose shape is controlled by adjustable parameters like length, width, diameter, and thickness. Instead of getting a fixed file, you configure the dimensions yourself and the model regenerates to match. The result is a custom part tailored to your exact needs.
What is a part?
A part is what you get when you apply your own parameter values to a model. It is your personal version of that model with the exact dimensions you chose. Every part is based on a model, but no two parts have to be the same — each one captures a unique combination of settings that you can save, revisit, and download.
Do I need CAD experience to use this?
Not at all. You simply pick a model, adjust the parameters using dropdowns or input fields, and download the STL file. The 3D viewer shows you a live preview so you always know what you are getting before you print.
What units are used?
All dimensions are in millimeters. This is the standard for 3D printing — when your slicer imports the STL file it will read the geometry in millimeters. Thread sizes follow the ISO metric standard (M3, M4, M5, etc.).
Can I use the STL files with any slicer?
Yes. The files are exported as binary STL in millimeter scale and work with every major slicer including Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, and OrcaSlicer.
Why does the preview look less smooth than the downloaded file?
The 3D viewer in your browser uses a lower-resolution version of the model with fewer faces to keep the preview fast and responsive. The STL file you download has significantly more faces, producing much smoother curves and finer detail for a high-quality print.
Do I need an account?
No. The Demo tier lets you try models with a selection of preset values and download the STL without signing up. A free account unlocks the full model library, more values per parameter, and the ability to save your parts.
Can I save my parts and come back later?
Yes, with a free or paid account you can save any model with your chosen parameters as a named part. It appears in your personal dashboard and remembers every setting, so you can revisit, adjust, or re-download it at any time.
What does the paid plan give me?
The paid plan replaces dropdowns with free-input fields, letting you type any value you want for complete control over every dimension. It also unlocks additional parameters on select models that are not available on the free tier.
What file format do I get?
You get a standard binary STL file. This is the most widely supported format for 3D printing and is compatible with virtually every slicer and 3D printing workflow.
Can I request a new model?
Yes. If you have an idea for a parametric model you would like to see on the platform, send us your suggestion through the contact page and we will consider adding it.
